8. Mate And Alpha
AURELIA
| couldn't remember the last t| was this happy. No! No, | actually do. The last t| was exceedingly happy
was the day | found out that the charming Alpha Prince who had savedfrom bullies countless times was my
destined mate. Gosh, | was so happy. | foolishly believed that he would be good toand that we would have a
great family.
That was the last t| felt real happiness.
And to be honest, even right now, | felt something more than happiness. | felt fear. Fear for the life of my child if
anyone finds out that | am pregnant. Larisa would havekilled and from his past reactions to me, Alpha
Raiden would definitely get rid of my child andjust so he could have a clear path back to his lover.
| gasped, "I need to get out of here. | need to go far away from all of them."
In haste, | tried to push myself off the bed but | failed miserably, falling right back on the bed when the pain |
had forgotten seized my body again. "Aahh..." | cried out, seething as beads of sweat trickled down my face from
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtthe root of my hair. "Help me, Dakota." | cried for help.
Dakota grabbed my weak frgently and helpedsit, wiping my sweaty face with the bed sheets. The next
thing | knew, she placed a tray of well-cooked meals on my lap and assuredthat she would helpescape.
"Eat up child and drink the herb in the jug. It's medicinal and it should help you gain enough strength to get to
safety."
"Thank you." | managed a smile and began to eat.
Dakota excused herself, saying, "The mansion is empty. No one is watching you or guarding the mansion
because they are all celebrating the return of their favored Luna. They are at the party but still, | should find the
right path for your escape. I'll be right back." Favored Luna? | pretended those words didn't make my stomach
twist as | ate the food and drank the herb till the jug was empty not just because | was hungry but also because |
needed energy to keep my baby safe.
Dakota returned, helpedto my feet, dressed me, and ledout of the room, guiding my steps even though |
wobbled. Each step causedto wince but eventually, Dakota and | made it out of the mansion through the
back door. We both cface to face with the woods behind the mansion and two paths that led to different
parts of the pack.
"The Luna Ceremony is that way." Dakota gestured to the right path. "We better go this way," Dakota stated to
me, steering us to the left.
My eyes shifted towards the right path and | heard myself saying, "Let's take the right, Dakota. | want to see him
for the last time." "That's dangerous, Aurelia. Please-'
| countered with trembling lips, "Please. | need to see him choose her over me. | need to see forto let him
go. | need this closure."
Or maybe | was just being plain stupid.
Dakota nodded. She didn't taketo the party or close to it but she helpedget close enough forto see
Alpha Raiden kissing Larisa in the middle of the biggest party the pack had ever had in many years. | watched
from afar yet | wasn't far enough to not see the affection in Alpha Raiden's eyes when he looked at Larisa who
was about to be his Luna.
It hurt but good riddance to bad rubbish.
Larisa can have him because | have someone better than him within my womb and | would live for it, my baby.
"We should go." Dakota said to me.

With one last look at Alpha Raiden, | vowed that he would never hurtagain. He would never cclose to
woods until she had to leaveto journey alone. "Here," Dakota said to me, her black eyes glinting with tears.
She handeda brown bag and chimed, "There's food, water, and medicine that will help you survive the next
few days. Stay safe, child. Hopefully, | will get to see you again."
| thanked her in tears and we hugged goodbye, not knowing if we would ever get to meet again but | would
forever carry Dakota in my memories.
"Thank you for everything," | muttered as Dokata turned her back to me. | will forever be indebted to her.
She helpedlive and now, she has helped my child escape the clutches of death. How do I ever repay her?
These thoughts echoed in my head while my fragile legs carriedfurther away from the source of my sorrows.
Several minutes after Dakota and | separated, | made it to the pack boundary. | saw the huge sign with warnings,
one standing out the most- DO NOT CROSS THE BOUNDARY WITHOUT PERMISSION.
Yet | had every intention of crossing but before I did, | looked back at the path | had been walking. There was no
one in sight but that didn't stopfrom muttering, "I, Aurelia, daughter of my dead mother, reject you, Alpha
Raiden Flockhart of the Dark Moon Pack as my mate and Alpha."
As those words left my mouth, traveling with the air, | crossed the boundary with a sad smile and a dead heart...
unaware of the dangers that lay ahead in my lonely journey.
