My eyes open focusing on the white ceiling of the hospital room. | would recognise those beeps from
anywhere...I'm back.
Everything was upside down in my life. The argument with Than had taken all my strength, the amount | had left.

Now that | understand why | haven't been the ssince reawakening, a sense of calmness has now embraced
me. And that's okay.

"Sore, but I'm okay. Where is Than?" | blink, looking around the room to find it empty, except for Freya.
"He's gone off pack grounds, he was desperate to find something to help you."
Perhaps it was tfor Than to realise nothing can save me, and going off pack grounds was wasting the little

"What happened?" Freya asks as | slowly sitting up. | felt as | did before. | think | just grew weary from the same
argument, from trying to fight Than's command.
"I don't know. | just got so angry at him. For hiding this from me, then we argued and I think the stress
overwhelmed me."

"She is?"
"Once she is here, you won't have the freedom you do at this very moment in time. Except for you there is no
Alpha family member on pack grounds...do you understand what | am saying."

""You've heard?" | ask in a low murmur.

happened.
| grab a piece of paper and write Than a note. | know what | was about to do would break Than's heart all over
again but | had to find Kaia. | had to find out once and for all what she was to me, what she took from Than. So

"Ready?" Freya's soft voice calls out tofrom the office door as she holds both holdalls in her hand.
"We will need cash!" She adds, her head gesturing to the safe behind the painting on the office wall. | nod in
confirmation before folding the note and leaving it on his computer keyboard.
| head to the safe, knowing that the code would be my birthday...I don't officially know, but | know Than. | only
take a few notes to keep us going until we reach the Nightshade Reformed Pack.
With one last glance at the alpha house, the house that becmy hafter my parent's died, | enter the
car's passenger side. Freya turns on the car's engine, before turning to me. "Are you certain you want to do
this?"
