Chapter 37:.

Stella quickly withdrew her hand from his palm, as if she was the one taking advantage of him. What a show-off!

He was getting ruder and ruder.

Not only had he taken advantage of her earlier on the stairs, but now he was also in her grandmother's living

room, doing his own thing. To top it off, she was getting married next month.

Stella turned away angrily. “I can’t clean your pants. When we get back, you can take them off and I'll wash

them.” No way was she going to clean a man’s body part. At best, she could wipe the stain off his pants and

wash them later.

RK raised his eyebrows, looking at her, but said nothing. He neither agreed nor refused, but at least he didn’t ask

her to clean his pants again.

The sauce was dark, and with his black pants, the stain was barely visible. After a good while, they both finished

eating and sat down uncomfortably because they didn’t know what to say.

Grandma cout of the bathroom after a long while. It was as if she had deliberately given them sprivate

space.

As she watched them both, watching their expressions closely, she noticed her granddaughter’s flushed face,

but neither spoke.

Grace looked at them and smiled, thinking that Stella was simply too shy to say anything. From their

expressions, she guessed that their relationship was improving.

Grace sat down across from them and asked, “Stella, are you done talking, did you eat, did you like it?”

Stella pouted, what could she say? With such a cold man sitting next to her, how could she eat? She was too

scared to do anything. “Grandma, try this food! It’s good and it’s your favorite,” RK said, serving her sfood

on the plate with her injured hand. But wasn’t her hand supposed to be injured? That's why he needed someone

to feed him. But there he was, trying to please his grandmother, showing no sign of pain.

Grace took the plate from him and gently stopped him. “Your hand is still hurt. You'll hurt your wound. You don’t

need to serve me; | can do it myself.”

Stella contemplated the scene before her. The atmosphere seemed very warm and harmonious. But she felt out

of place, like an outsider in that warm scene. It was as if they were grandmother and grandson, and she was the

outsider.

“Rene, you and Stella shouldn't always cto the hospital to see this old woman. You'd better go out to the

movies or to the street,” Grace suggested kindly.

“I know young lovers today like to do that. But look at you two, always here with me. It's such a waste of time.

You barely have tto be alone together.”

Grace was very considerate of them. She was kindly giving them advice. Stella quickly interrupted, not giving RK

a chance to respond.

“Grandma, Mr. Kingston is a very busy man with a lot of work to do each day. We shouldn't waste his time.” She

didn’t mention how busy she was; she knew her grandmother would give her a hard tif she did. Instead, she

used RK as a shield.

Anyway, she didn’t want to spend any more talone with him. It was bad enough seeing his face every day at

work, and now he was visiting his grandmother.

If it weren't for her desire to spend twith Grace, she wouldn't want to look at him at all. But now, his

grandmother was still thinking about his love life and trying to create opportunities for them to be together.

Forget the fact that this man was her ex-husband. He was about to get married next month, but he couldn't

seem to control himself. He had a fiancée, but he wouldn't admit it in front of his grandmother. What was he

trying to do?

Grace's smile faltered slightly as she noticed Stella trying to reject her suggestions, making her feel a little

embarrassed. But it was RK who opened his mouth and said, “I'm willing to spend more ton a date with Miss

Richard.”

Stella was speechless, what kind of performance was this? She glared at him, her eyes telling him, “How

shameless.” He was lying to his grandmother, claiming he didn’t have a girlfriend, and he was trying to deceive

her. Now he knew she was aware of the truth, but he was still trying to deceive her.

Grace was delighted with her grandson-in-law. She smiled at Stella and said, “Stella, if you and Rene get married

and have children in the future, you will be very happy. See how much he loves you.”

“Hahaha,” Stella almost laughed at her grandmother's words.

Marry and have children with him? Indeed, she had already married that man and had a five-year-old son. But

what had happened? Was she happy? Not at all. Not only had he divorced her, but she didn’t even love Adrian.

Stella merely lowered her head and said nothing. Grace looked at her granddaughter, noting her lack of

enthusiasm. But she continued to insist, “Stella, if you marry Rene, | will be at your wedding.”

Stella looked at the man sitting next to her as if nothing had happened. “Grandma, wait until next month. You'll

know everything.” She didn’t want her grandmother to be fooled anymore by that man, but she didn’t know

what kind of spell he had cast on her.

Grace didn’t believe her, but she trusted RK more, so she decided to wait. When RK and Sophia got married next

month, her grandmother would see the truth.

Grace looked at RK and saw that he wasn’t saying anything, so she also shut her mouth and stopped talking

about it.

With dinner over, Stella dreaded the thought of going back to him, just like last time. Today she decided to wait

for him to leave before going home. It was too uncomfortable to stay alone in the car with him.

Grace, realizing that it was getting late and that neither of them had any intention of leaving, said, “Stella....

Rene... It's getting late. You should go back now.” It was obvious that she wanted them to leave together, but

Stella was unwilling.

“Grandma, I'm not leaving yet. | want to spend more twith you. It’s not often that | get to be with you. You

don’t know how rude and mean my boss is. He makes us work overtconstantly, so | hardly have tto visit

you.”

Stella knew that her grandmother didn’t realize that she and RK worked at the scompany or that he was her

boss, so she took the opportunity to stab him in the back. Grace, of course, didn’t know that, so naturally she

cto his defense.

“What kind of company do you work for? What kind of boss asks his employees to work overtoff the clock?

No wonder at your age you don’t have tto date. His work is affecting your personal life.”

“Yes, Grandma. Not only that, my boss’s character is terrible. He's a playboy with many women on the side, and

despite having so many, he won't even admit it. Grandma, don’t you think he’s a villain?”.

Stella felt pleased with herself. At last she could let off steam and scold that man in front of her grandmother

with her head held high. And the best part? He was sitting right next to her grandmother.

Grace nodded her head, looking disgusted. “Stella, | think your boss’s character is seriously flawed. You should

not be working for him. Resign as soon as possible and work with Rene instead.”

But Grace wasn’t one to miss an opportunity to bring them together. “Work with Rene, and he’ll take good care

of you.”

Stella twisted her lips, thinking, “What bad luck! Why does everything have to involve this man?”. She had said

all that in the hope that her grandmother would help her get transferred back to France or to another branch.

But instead, her grandmother was trying to pair them up again.

RK seized the moment and said, “Miss Richard, if you work here, I'm sure I'll take good care of you.”

He deliberately emphasized the words “I will take good care of her”. Stella listened to his words and felt her

heart flutter in her chest. Try as she might, nothing seemed to go right for her.

He forced a smile. “Forget it. It’s no good working for Mr. Kingston's company.”

Grace looked at her and rolled her eyes, waving her hand dismissively.

“Okay, okay, it's getting late. You should get back.” If they couldn't stay together, her granddaughter’s future

would be ruined. If it weren't for Rene’s good temperament, no man would be willing to accept her

granddaughter as a wife. Thinking this way, Grace believed Rene was very good husband material.

Stella did not want to leave with RK. She sat on the edge of the bed, refusing to move. “No, Grandma, | don’t

want to leave yet. | want to stay with you a little longer. Let Mr. Kingston go first.” If he left, so would she.

But if he stayed, she would be forced to carpool with the playboy again.

Grace told Stella to leave because she wanted them to leave together, but now, looking at her granddaughter,

RK just stood there, showing no intention of leaving. It was already dark, but inside the pavilion it was still very

lively.

RK sat on the couch and looked at everything as if he was not going to leave and was willing to accompany her

to the end. He opened his thin lips and said, “Stella, | will wait and accompany you.

| will leave after | send you home. It is late and it is not safe for you to go alone. | won't feel at ease.”

Stella was speechless. His attitude was so direct.

He called her by her first nas if they were intimates. Stella thought that, with his acting chops in front of her

grandmother, this man could win an Oscar with no problem. But she refused to give up and said, “Mr. Kingston

needn't bother.

He still has a son at hand needs to get back soon. He can go ahead. I've already asked a friend to pick me

up. I'll be fine.”

She tried to use every trick and excuse she knew to avoid leaving the hospital with him. But then...

“Hey Stella, didn’t you askif | had a charger this afternoon? Didn't you say your phone was out of battery?

How did you contact your friend?”

Great. It wasn’t her fault, it was her grandmother's fault. Just like that, all her lies were exposed in front of this

man. “Grandma,” Stella was very angry. Why couldn't her grandmother show srespect for her? Why did she

have to say something like that?

“Knock, knock, knock.”

While they were chatting, there was a knock at the door. A nurse opened it and said, “Visiting hours are over.

Please go hand let the patient rest soon.”
