Chapter 38:.

Inside the room, they were still arguing about going hwhen the nurse cin to send them away. Stella felt

a surge of embarrassment. Not only had she been left without a phone, but no friends had cto pick her up

either.

To top it off, they were being taken out of the room because visiting hours were over. Stella thought that the next

tshe visited her grandmother she would be better prepared.

First and foremost, she needed to check this man’s entire schedule to avoid running into him at the hospital. It

seemed that every tshe visited her, he was there, bringing her bad luck.

Grace waved her hand dismissively and said, “Stella, hurry home. It’s getting late and even the nurse is urging

you to go. It’s already ten o'clock at night and I'm worried about you.” Grace seemed anxious to get them out of

the room.

Whatever happened, Stella could no longer refuse. She didn’t want to go back to that man, but she couldn't risk

affecting her grandmother's rest. She was worried about her health.

With an anguished face, Stella reluctantly said, “Then Grandma.... I'm going.”

“Okay, okay... Go quickly,” Grace replied, turning her attention back to RK, who was standing behind Stella.

Grace winked at her, and Stella didn’t need to guess what her grandmother was trying to convey.

RK replied softly, “Grandma, I'll text you when I'm home.” Whenever he spoke, his voice was calm and steady,

which made everything he said sound convincing.

Maybe that’s why Grace believed Stella would be happy if she were with him. But Stella frowned, hating how he

was deceiving her grandmother like that.

It was impossible for anything to happen between them, and yet they constantly misunderstood each other. Was

it fun for him?

“Grandma, there’s no need to bother Mr. Kingston,” Stella said coldly. It didn’t matter if her grandmother

misunderstood their relationship; she didn’t know the truth. But this man knew better.

She had already warned him not to meet with her grandmother, but he ignored her and continued to visit her,

fueling these misunderstandings. What did he intend?

“Stella, don’t say that. It's too late for you to go halone. I'll only feel reassured when | know you're with

Rene,” Grace insisted, waving her hand dismissively. “Now, you two should go quickly. I'm tired and want to rest.

Rene, be careful on the way.”

After speaking, he did not forget to remind her. RK kindly replied, “Understood, Grandma. We're leaving now.”

After saying goodbye, Stella reluctantly left the room with him.

At first, she didn’t want to go with him, but after thinking about it, she agreed. Because in front of her

grandmother, she could not refuse.

Now, alone with him, she knew that resisting was useless. Anyway, she knew this man’s temperament well. As

long as he dared to disobey the President, she would be the one to suffer in the end.

Besides, in the end, she had to follow him. For example, by the tStella was in college, RK had already been

in the working world for years.

Normally, he spent most of his tat the university and only chduring vacations. But at hshe

had nothing to do. RK was often away on business trips and she stayed halone, like a ghost.

There were servants, of course, but they were under her orders and she had no real relationship with them. So

her days were monotonous: sleeping, eating and waiting. She was the only one living in such a large village.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go out with friends, but every tshe proposed, he turned her down and never

let her go out alone.

In the end, she could only go shopping with him. Stella screamed in her inner self, “Hey, | want to go shopping

with my friends because | want to complain about this man and how he won't let her out and has her under

house arrest.”

But forget it... It was still better to go shopping with RK than to stay hand be bored alone. So she agreed to

go with him.

The next day, she had already informed RK that she wanted to go shopping at the mall in the afternoon.

Stella dressed up nicely, after all it was her first “date” and she wanted to look nice. But after getting dressed

up, she waited so long for him that in the end she decided to go herself to pick him up at his company.

She didn’t want to spoil the day they had planned. How many women would go to her man’s workplace to pick

him up on their first date? Probably not many. But here... Stella did it for him.

She felt aggrieved, but still she forced herself to do it. She took the elevator and headed for the president's

office, but as soon as she opened the door, what she saw shocked her. She felt as if the floor had been ripped

out from under her feet.

She looked at the two figures in the office and wanted to laugh at herself. There she was, like a fool, waiting for

him at home, and there he was, playing with her sister, Sophia.

She had put so much effort into making herself beautiful. For what? Just for that man. She skipped meals so they

could have dinner together, and for what?

She knew from the beginning that he was only a substitute for Sophia, but what could she do with her heart,

which always beat for him? This man’s heart never belonged to her; he had given it to someone else. At that

moment, her heart broke into a thousand pieces.

After seeing them together in the office, Stella becvery angry. She didn’t want to live with that man because

she respected herself.

How could she stay with a man who cheated on her behind her back with her sister, inside her office? So, after

leaving the company, Stella went straight home, packed her suitcase and prepared to leave the house in anger.

Anyway, their marriage made no sense. If he wanted to be with Sophia, fine. Then let him go ahead and live. She

had nothing to do with him anymore.

But this man wouldn't even let her out of the house. After that, he put her under house arrest and wouldn't let

her out at all. He was the one cheating, but she was the one being punished.

During the entire summer vacation, Stella did not leave the mansion. What was even more depressing was that,

while she was stuck at home, he was on a business trip and didn’t return until the school semester started. Only

then did he allow her to return to college.

Stella still remembered it all vividly. That overbearing man had tricked her and controlled her when she was

about to run away from home. But why didn’t she say anything about him cheating on her?

“Get in the car,” he ordered as soon as they were out the hospital door. His aura was so imposing that no one

could refuse him.

Having learned from past experiences, Stella reluctantly entered. She knew that no matter how hard she tried,

she could not escape him. So it was better for her to get into the car than to be forcibly taken away by this man.

This tshe was quite self-conscious. Stella also followed behind her tall figure. As she was about to enter the

car, she heard the driver speak, “Mr. Kingston, Miss Richard just called, will you be going htonight?”

When the driver finished speaking, he looked at Stella, realizing too late that there were two Miss Richards. Stella

also heard the driver's words and froze, lowering her head, at that moment she didn’t know what to do.

At that moment she didn’t know what to do. Would she pretend she hadn't heard anything and act indifferent?

In short, whatever happened, she felt very uncomfortable in her heart. This feeling was not very good and it was

unpleasant. Maybe she still had lingering feelings for him, or maybe she couldn't let him go completely. In any

case, her emotions were complicated. But one thing was certain: she knew they were wrong.

Six years should have been enough tto move on. Even if it was only a shadow in her heart, Stella stepped

back and said calmly, “Since Mr. Kingston is busy, | won't bother him anymore. I'll go by myself.”

After all, he was going to Sophia’s. Why would he shamelessly sit in her car? That would only lead to

misunderstandings.

RK didn’t react to her words, looking at her coldly as if it wasn’t her he was talking to. He didn’t change his

expression and turned to the driver, saying, “Call her and tell her | don’t have ttonight.”

“Yes, Mr. Kingston.”

“You, get in the car,” RK ordered, his voice calm but firm. He sat down inside the car, tapped on the window with

his fingers and added, “Do you wantto invite you personally?” In the blink of an eye, his deep blue eyes

bored into hers.

As the light inside the car was very dim, she could not see clearly into his eyes or what he was thinking. She

could only guess from his voice what he wanted to say. Stella felt compelled to do so. She was like a little white

rabbit falling into the hands of the wolf.

Stella was so angry that she was pinned to the ground. She wanted to stomp her foot in anger to show her

frustration. “Mr. Kingston, is it my choice to get in the car or not, what right do you have to force me?”.

That bastard... From the first day after her return, everything in her life had been controlled by him, from her job

to her grandmother's illness.

Where in her life had he not interfered? She felt as if she had fallen into a trap as soon as she returned to the

country.

“And Mr. Kingston, you already have a fiancée-why are you doing such confusing and ambiguous things, letting

people misunderstand you?” She looked at him, feeling a mixture of anger and hurt.

Even though she was in front of him, she still felt a little threatened. Even though that man was sitting inside the

car and saying nothing, he still gave off a sense of oppression, spreading an aura that no one was worthy of.

RK looked at her lazily, as if her words meant nothing to him. She was angry and hurt, but he was relaxed and

calm, as if he couldn't understand her emotions at all. “Misunderstanding?” he said lazily.

“Is it a misunderstanding to send you back, Miss Richard?”

His words sounded as if returning his ex-wife was the most natural thing in the world. Stella’s anger flared even

more.

Standing in front of him, she confronted him, “Are you pretending to likein front of my grandmother so you

won't be misunderstood?

Aren't you pretending you don’t have a girlfriend in front of my grandmother so you won't be ambiguous if you

want to go out with me? If it wasn’t ambiguous or a misunderstanding, then | was just being self-indulgent.”
