Chapter 628 Nancy nugged at Todd's arm, pulling him away from the scene, "Todd, it seems Ellie doesn't hate Alex as much as she used to. We need to help Alex whenever we can!" Karlier at the hospital, Nancy had sensed a shift in Ellie's demeanor. The coldness that once defined their interactions seemed to have softened. Five years ago, Nancy had made sure to erase all memories of Ellie from Alex's mind.

He now saw Ellie as a widow who had lost her spouse. And yet, here they were, Alex, drawn to Ellie once again as if fate itself had orchestrated their reunion.

As a mother, Nancy could only hope that this new chapter would be as sweet as the smile she had just seen on Alex's face.

Meanwhile, at the mall. "Why did we stop?" Alex asked, pausing in front of a men's underwear store. Ellie stared at the exaggerated mannequins in the window, refusing to step inside.

“Last stop, I promise. After this, we'll grab dinner,” Alex said, patting his chest confidently.

Ellie shook her head. They had been shopping since 3 p.m., and it was now 6 p.m. Alex had made the spromise multiple times, even making her pick out socks for him.

"I agreed to help you pick out one suit, Mr. Warren. You've been at it for over three hours!" Ellie regretted ever agreeing to this shopping spree.

"Con, just two more items," Alex said, dragging her into the store despite her protests. Reluctantly, Ellie closed her eyes and randomly picked out thirty pairs of men's underwear before Alex finally let her leave.

"This way," As soon as they stepped out of the store, Alex grabbed her hand and pulled her toward another section of the mall.

"What do you think of this bracelet?" Alex asked, stopping at a jewelry counter and picking up a diamond- studded piece.

He reached for Ellie's hand to try it on, but she quickly pulled away. "Mr. Warren, this is too expensive. I can't accept it." "I'll pay for it," Alex said, subtly guiding her to sit on a high stool in front of the counter.

"Mr. Warren, It's not about the price. It's the meaning behind it. I'm a doctor. I don't wear things like this," Ellie insisted.

"I'll buy Mr. Warren dinner," Ellie said, pulling her hand away forcefully and heading towards the elevator. A flicker of disappointment flashed in Alex's eyes.

"Your girlfriend is so beautiful," the saleswoman said, trying to salvage the sale. "This year, it's trendy to give your girlfriend a lucky charm bracelet for protection and good fortune. Would you like to pick one out?" She showed Alex a selection of red string bracelets with gold, cinnabar, and gemstone charms. Alex glanced at them, unimpressed.

His eyes landed on an olive-shaped solitaire diamond in the display case. "Can you make a bracelet with this?" The sales staff was stunned. They had never seen someone request a multi-million-dollar diamond to be strung on a cheap red cord.

"Sir, this diamond is a one-of-a-kind piece designed by Ella. It's already been reserved," one of the saleswomen explained.

"I'll pay double. Just make it quick, and use a red string," Alex said, glancing back at Ellie's retreating figure.

Later, at the elevator. Ellie was about to call Alex and tell him she wasm leaving when he finally caught up to her. "What took you so long?" she asked, her patience wearing thin.

"Nature calls," Alex said. He grabbed Ellie's hand, about to step insiden when he ran straight into the woman he'd been set up with on a blind date-Quinlee.

"Mr. Warren?" Quinlee's eyes widened as she took in Alex's tall frame, dressed in a sleek black business suit e that screamed sophistication. He looked nothing like the laid-back, casual guy she'd met on their awkward blind date.
