Chapter 260

Chapter 260:

Once inside, he gently set her down on the bed. Before she could say anything, he turned away and retrieved a

first-aid kit.

Sitting beside her, he took hold of her injured ankle and carefully applied ointment, his fingers moving with

practiced ease. The room fell into a brief silence, the only sound the quiet rhythm of their breathing.

Khloe felt a strange mix of amusement and awkwardness. Breaking the silence, she let out a playful laugh.

“Henrik, did you just blush? | never expected you to be so shy.”

Her laughter was light, teasing, clearly enjoying his reaction. Did she really think he was so easily flustered?

Henrik’s eyes narrowed slightly as he watched her laugh so freely. Setting the ointment aside, he leaned in, his

large hand sliding to the back of her neck, pulling her closer. “I'm not shy, just irresistibly tempted by you,” he

murmured.

Before Khloe could fully process his words, he closed the distance and claimed her lips in an unexpected kiss.

Henrik’s kiss ccrashing down like a thunderstorm, fierce and all-consuming. His lips captured Khiloe’s with

force, prying her mouth open as his tongue explored every inch of hers with reckless determination.

The suddenness of it froze Khloe in place, her mind blanked out by the intensity of the moment.

When her senses finally returned, she tried to break free, pressing her palms firmly against his chest in a

desperate attempt to push him away. But Henrik’s hand, large and unyielding, cupped the back of her head,

keeping her exactly where he wanted her. There was a fire in his kiss—raw, urgent, and demanding—as though

he intended to steal the air from her lungs. Her body betrayed her will; her legs trembled, and her heart pounded

like a war drum inside her chest.

The kiss stretched on, unbroken, until their breaths cin short gasps. Only then did Henrik pull away, his eyes

locked on hers. His gaze was dark and piercing, as though he could see right through her, unraveling every

thought and secret she tried to hide.

Khloe’s face burned, her cheeks flushed red with a mixture of anger and something she couldn't quite name.

Henrik, however, seemed unfazed. A small smirk tugged at the corners of his mouth as he ruffled her hair with

affection.

“You keep letting your guard down like that,” he said, “and next time, | might not stop so easily.”

Khloe’s fury flared for a moment before guilt crept in to replace it. She had been reckless, too bold in her teasing,

and now she was paying the price. Henrik wasn’t someone to play games with. She should have known better,

but he always managed to push her buttons. He was petty to the core, never letting anything slide without

making a point.

Henrik noticed the flicker of emotion in her eyes and let a sly smile form.

He tilted her chin with his finger, making sure she couldn't look away. “What's that look for? Still mad? Or maybe

you're cursingin your head?”

“Cursing you? Who, me? You're the mafia boss here. | wouldn't dare, would 1?” Khloe shot back, her voice

dripping with sarcasm.

“You're such a liar. Your eyes are practically rolling to the ceiling.” Henrik chuckled. Without another word, he

finished tending to her injured ankle and pulled a blanket over her.

Henrik draped a blanket over her legs before standing. “Stay put. I'll have Fiona bring up something to eat.

You're not moving around with that ankle.”

“Fine,” Khloe grumbled. Despite being only seven years older, he often acted more like a parent than a friend.

Truthfully, no one had ever cared for her the way he did—not even her own mother. For all her complaints, Khloe

couldn't deny how much she appreciated the attention.

She had always been the genius. So, she had grown up being independent, even mature beyond her years. The

Evans family was not kind to her, and her mother was frequently away, traveling for research. Henrik’s care was

a rare comfort, something she secretly treasured.
