Chapter 130 Chapter 130: She hesitated for a while before she began to delete the number.
What should her opening statement be? If she were to make use of the opportunity of returning his coat to ask him out to discuss the tutoring matters of Milford, would he come? Expectation bubbled up in her heart. She couldn't tell where it cfrom.
Recalling the hours of the previous days spent at the club, she had watched him from the corner of her eyes. He had spoken at length with Denzel but had not deemed it fit to spare her a glance.
That memory was an instant awakening from her daydream. She searched for Raymond's number and called him.
"Ms. Curtis," Raymond said as he picked up the phone. "Could you helpschedule a meeting with Mr. Dawson to discuss the tutoring of Milford? Also, inform him that he left his coat in my car," Eileen said.
Eileen took the coat from behind her and touched it. It still had the faint smell of smoke on it.
"Well, I'll set up a meeting for the discussion of the tutoring. As for the coat, I'm afraid you'd have to see to that yourself, as it's a private matter. I'm driving now, so I have to go," Raymond said as he glanced at Bryan through the rearview mirror.
After hanging up the phone, he stopped at the traffic light and asked, "Does this arrangement suit you, Mr. Dawson?" To him, Bryan must have had Eileen in his mind to do what he had done.
"What? Do I need to praise you?" Bryan said coldly.
Raymond managed to stifle his smile and said, “No. It's my job, after all." Eileen held her phone in her hand, letting it rest lightly on Bryan's coat.
The screen of her phone reflected the confused look on her face.
Private matter? She didn't feel the need to see Bryan privately.
She put the coat in the passenger seat and drove home.
Phoebe was surprised when she saw her drive halone. "Where is Bailee?" "My mom starts her electrotherapy tomorrow, so someone needs to stay with her at the hospital," Eileen said as she sat down at the table and saw that there were various dishes. She gave Phoebe a thumbs up and said, “I didn't expect you to be such a good cook, Miss Burton." "My cooking skills are okay. Don't mockwith the title Miss Burton," Phoebe said.
Eileen smiled, then began to eat.
"What's the matter? Is there anything wrong?" Phoebe suddenly asked.
"How can you tell?" Eileen asked, surprised.
"You are frowning. Since we got here, everything has been going well except for the occasional melancholy at night. What then could put you in this mood?" Phoebe said.
She watched Eileen for a few seconds before asking.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtEileen was taken aback by Phoebe's accurate guess.
"Since you arrived, you've avoided listening to business-related news, so you wouldn't have known that Bryan has been in Wist Land for a month now," Phoebe said, amused by Eileen's expression.
Eileen was even more surprised by this piece of information. Bryan had been in Wist Land that long? "Why didn't you tellthis earlier?" Eileen asked.
Phoebe shrugged and answered. "Why should I? It's not like you were going to see him." What Phoebe said made sense. But Eileen couldn't avoid seeing Bryan because he would use Milford's case as an excuse to see her.
"Why did he call the way from Onaland to Wist Land?" Phoebe asked.
Without thinking, Eileen replied, "I don't know. He wouldn't cto Wist Land foranyway." Phoebe shook her head in amusement.
"Did he chere for you? I just wanted to hear your guess. Or is that what you wanted?" Phoebe asked, feigning surprise.
"No, that's not what I wanted," Eileen said, then continued eating as she no longer wanted to discuss the topic. In her mind, she told herself that Bryan's appearance here was just a coincidence.
She couldn't let this affect her.
The night stretched on. A cool breeze blew through Wist Land, yet Bryan, who stood by the window, couldn't be calmed by the wind.
With a cigarette between his fingers, he scrolled through his phone but saw no texts or missed calls.
He blew a smoke ring out of his lips; after verifying that his phone bill was indeed paid. Frowning, he threw his phone onto the bed.
He stood there, lost in thought for a few moments, before he picked up his phone again and placed a call to Raymond.
Eileen was quite surprised when she received a call from Raymond telling her where her meeting with Bryan would take place.
She had thought it would take a few more attempts to arrange a meeting with Bryan.
On Monday morning, she took out a professional outfit from her wardrobe.
She was about to change out of her pajamas when she decided to opt for something a little casual.
That day, she arrived at the Pianoforte Villas by five fifty in the evening and rang the bell.
The door swung open, but there was no one on the other side. Perhaps it was controlled remotely. Eileen took off her shoes at the door. She then finally glimpsed Bryan's figure in the living room.
He had on a white t-shirt and sweatpants, along with a pair of black slippers.
Eileen had last seen him dressed this casually years ago, so her heart skipped a beat.
"Mr. Dawson," she called out. Since they were no longer in a superior-subordinate relationship, she decided to treat him the way she would treat everyone else.
Bryan stared at Eileen. Her hair, although black, was streaked with hints of blue, giving her a playful look.
She had on jeans and a short black and white striped top, where her waist was faintly visible.
Her taste in clothing had improved a lot.
Bryan's throat tightened slightly, his voice deep as he said, "Have a seat." Eileen waited for him to take his seat first. Then, she sat at the edge of the sofa, the farthest distance from him.
"Regarding tutoring Milford, I do hope that you, as his current guardian, can help ensure he attends my classes on time. As far as whether or not I'm capable of teaching him well, that would be dependent on whether he can be made to sit and listen to my lessons," Eileen said, getting straight to business.
"No problem. I'll make sure that he shows up in the study room on time; the rest is up to you," he replied. "And... can I inquire about his background?" Eileen asked. She wasn't being nosy; it was just that Milford's situation was quite different.
It was important for her to get him to adjust psychologically so he could learn properly.
Bryan arched an eyebrow in surprise. He said, "Sure. And I'll answer." "Are both his parents gone?" Eileen asked.
"Yes. They passed away in an accident when he was in his first year of junior high," Bryan replied.
Eileen felt sympathy well up in her heart. "I heard he has a sister. Do they get along well?" "They've only seen each other three times since he was born," Bryan answered.
This answer was quite surprising to Eileen. Siblings with the sparents had only met three times? That was odd.
It seemed like the relationship between the siblings in the Murray family was quite complicated. However, Eileen didn't want to ask more for fear of being thought of as nosy.
"Any more questions?" Bryan asked, staring at Eileen.
"No," Eileen replied, shaking her head.
"Alright then. Let's talk about private issues now," Bryan said, his expression unreadable.
Eileen blinked several times in confusion. "What private matters do we have to discuss?" she asked.
"Really? You don't have anything to say?" Bryan asked.

Without hesitation, Eileen said, "I have nothing to say to you, Mb m Dawson. If there are no more matters to discuss regarding Milford, I'll be going upstairs to begin his lessons."
She then stood up and began heading up the stairs. However,m Bryan stopped her by casually saying, "Milford went out with Raymond to get a haircut. They'll be a while." "I'll wait in the study then," Eileen said. She really didn't want to be alone with Bryan.
Bryan made no attempt to stop her. Instead, he said, "While you wait for him, you should really try to remember if you might have forgotten to tellsomething." He then stood up, walked to the French window, and stared outside.
Eileen stared at him for a while before finally going upstairs. Milford's study was a mess.
She began to tidy up the desk and the bookshelf to make space for the materials she had brought with her.
Then, she sat down and pondered what she might have forgotten to tell Bryan.
Wasn't he going to pretend he didn't know her? What, then, was there to talk about between them? Twenty minutes later, Milford walked into the room.
Eileen froze when she saw him. His previously dyed, long hair had been shaved into a crew cut.
The earrings on his ears were also gone, as were the tattoos behind his ears.
His colorful clothes were now replaced by a simple white t-shirt and sweatpants. He looked completely different now.
Before, he had the look of a thug. Now, he looked quite innocent and handsome.
He would look even better if he lost the fierceness in his eyes.
"You really don't know how to give up, do you?" Milford said.
"The disillusion of your innocent look is suddenly cleared when you speak.” If he hadn't spoken, Eileen might have reached out and touched his head.
"Don't just sit there. Find something to entertain yourself with," Eileen said, then returned to scrolling her phone. Milford was stunned. He watched Eileen for a while to ensure that she was indeed not being sarcastic.
He then turned around, sat in front of his desk, took out the gconsole he had hidden in the drawer, and began to play.
Soon, the sound of Milford's gconsole and Eileen's phone could be heard from outside.
The two men standing outside could hear it clearly.
Curiously, Raymond asked, "Is this really a tutoring session? It just seems like Ms. Curtis is here to play." "Go prepare them ssnacks," Bryan instructed before heading downstairs as if nothing was wrong.
Ten minutes later, Raymond returned with the snacks. Eileen, having heard Raymond's footsteps, put away her phone and kicked Milford to warn him about Raymond.
Milford quickly put away his gconsole and picked up one of the materials prepared by Eileen.
When Raymond entered the room, he m saw both of them looking quite serious in the tutoring session. His mouth twitched, but he said nothing.
He just put down the snacks and left to find Bryan.
