Chapter 66 Chapter 66: Eileen had been restless in her bed for a couple of hours when she received the message from Jacob. The clock had struck one in the morning. Sleep had still eluded her. Compelled by Jacob's late message, she had made her way here without a second thought.
Her arrival had been marked by high spirits, yet now, sadness overwhelmed her. Bryan's words had pierced her heart, leaving her shattered. Quietly, she cast her eyes down and tightened her lips.
In the closing moments of the elevator, Bryan watched her pale face through the diminishing space, squinting slightly. As the doors sealed shut, he turned and fixed Jacob with a fierce glare before delivering a swift kick to Jacob.
"You talk too much." His deep voice echoed within the confined space of the elevator, and Eileen could hear that. The button pressed by Eileen brought the doors open once. Now collected, Eileen flashed a smile at Bryan. "Mr. Dawson, it's getting late. Allowto send you back." Bryan stepped out, handing her his suit. She nodded briefly at Jacob and then followed Bryan to the car. She took the keys, unlocked the passenger door, and gestured for him to get inside.
Returning to the driver's seat, Eileen started the car. However, she was uncertain whether to head toward Oak Villas or Springvale Lane.
The car's closed space was tinged with the scent of tobacco and alcohol from Bryan, prompting her to sniff subtly. "Mr. Dawson, should I take you to Oak Villas?" Eileen avoided asking if he preferred to go to her place instead.
"Yes," Bryan replied tersely, his brows furrowed. His gaze lingered on her reflection in the window, studying the gentle curves of her face. He couldn't discern her emotions.
The car crept along the wide road, bathed intermittently in the glow of streetlights. They reached Oak Villas soon. Eileen parked the car by the entrance and set the parking brake, but she remained seated instead of opening the door for Bryan. She tightened her grip on the steering wheel and turned to look at him.

Eileen kept her eyes on him as her hand shifted from the steering wheel, reaching to unlock the door with a click. Her voice was low in the enclosed space, but the sound of the door unlocking muffled her words.

Bryan watched her walk around the car to his side and open the door for him. "If you want to say something, just say it." He looked at her, not making any move, but his eyes held a flicker of anticipation.
Eileen reached out and clutched the fabric of his clothing. "Did I do something wrong?" she asked.
Her brows were knitted together in distress, a look that tugged at Bryan's heart. He got out of the car, reached out to caress her chin, and leaned in to press a gentle kiss to her lips.
He treated her with the tenderness one would afford a delicate treasure, cautious as if too much pressure might break her. Eileen rested her hands on his firm waist.
Then Bryan threaded his fingers through her hair, holding her gently as the kiss deepened. Breathing becuneven, her tension easing as she found support in his embrace. She heard him whisper her nsoftly.
In response, she whispered back, then with a sudden urge, he swiftly lifted her into his arms, kicked the car door shut with his foot, and quickly made his way into Oak Villas.
This was Bryan's home, a place Eileen had visited often, always maintaining decorum and never crossing the line. Today was different; Eileen took the initiative, catching Bryan off guard, and they barely made it past the entrance before succumbing to their desires.
Eileen's scent filled the hallway and the living room. Bryan had been holding back for days, but right now, all his restraint vanished, overtaken by overwhelming desire. Before, Eileen usually couldn't endure this kind of energy and would black out. But today, she made a concerted effort to meet his needs.
The more she responded, the more his desire grew. As dawn neared, he looked at her weary face and decided to let her rest. He carried her to the bathroom, and they kissed under the shower's cascade. The warm water covered them, her long hair sticking to her delicate collarbone.
Seeing her like this reignited his desire. He quickly washed and dried her before leaving the bathroom. For the first time, Eileen lay in Bryan's bed at Oak Villas, held in his arms, listening to his heartbeat in silence. She was exhausted but couldn't sleep.
She needed to find the right tto ask him for money. But first, she wanted to see if he would offer the money without her asking. She looked down, hiding her feelings, missing the smile.
His eyes were closed, his thick eyebrows giving him a relaxed, satisfied look. As the first light of morning shone through, Eileen realized Bryan would not take the initiative to offer her money. Listening to his breathing, she knew he was not asleep.
She got up and dressed in yesterday's clothes. Bryan propped his head up and looked at her. She stood there, her expression as neutral as when she was at work. Bryan opened his mouth, about to tell her she didn't need to be so formal.
But before Bryan could say it, Eileen said, “Mr. Dawson, may I ask you for smoney this time?" The room fell into deep silence, and Bryan's expression darkened. He stared at her, his deep eyes intense, the vein on his forehead pronounced as he sat up slowly. The quilt slid off, revealing his muscular torso. "Why?" he questioned.
It dawned on him now that her cooperation was motivated by a need for money. He regretted almost letting his feelings get the better of him. Lighting a cigarette, he took a deep drag, exhaling a ring of smoke, his gaze as cold as ice.
Eileen bowed her head, afraid to meet his eyes and see the scorn there. But she hadn't expected his response to be so harsh.
"I didn't ask you to stay here last night. You did that on your own. Why should I give you money?" With a smoke ring swirling around him, he uttered the coldest words.
Eileen trembled, and she looked up at him. What he had said was true. She had braced for sirony, but outright denial was not what she had expected.
Bryan got out of the bed, put out his cigarette, and tossed it into the trash. Then, he went to change. Within two minutes, he was back, dressed in a fresh suit.
Suddenly, he was extending a black card toward Eileen.
Eileen stared at him, puzzled.

Her first impulse was to pull the card out and throw it at him. But she knew better than to do that. She turned and left in a hurry, fearing the scorn she might see in his eyes if she looked back.
Without a car, she started her long walk to the nearest bus station, which was at least half an hour away. Early in the morning, Bailee was jolted awake by a call from Ruby.
"Bailee, do you have any money? When did your sister offend? Did she do that to get money for my..." "Ruby asked." Hearing that, Bailee was fully alert now. "Mom, what are you talking about?" Ruby replied, "Don't pretend with me. I know your nature. Even if she won't tell me, you should." "Mom, I honestly don't know," Bailee replied earnestly. "Eileen doesn't share much withabout these things. Why are you asking about money all of a sudden?"
After a heavy silence, Ruby finally said, "I don't actually need money.
Your sister has been trying to gather funds for my medical expenses. If you have any money, please send sher way and support her as much as you can. I'll see about arranging a marriage for her, and everything will be okay." Ruby continued talking to Bailee for a while longer. After ending the call, Bailee let out a deep sigh.
Bailee had long ago crafted a story to fool Ruby. Yet, she truly hadn't known about Eileen's urgent need for money. She was determined to help as much as she could, given the circumstances surrounding Ruby's medical expenses.
After pausing to gather her thoughts, she made a call to Huey.
"Huey, remember when you offereda job at the studio? I've thought it over. I'll take it, but... could I possibly get sof my salary in advance? I promise I won't run away. I'll work diligently to pay the debt!"
Originally, Huey had taken her out job hunting, but they hadn't found anything suitable. She had evenm considered dishwashing. Then Huey had mentioned letting her work in his gstudio, offering a monthly salary of a thousand dollars. Now, she decided to accept his offer. "Of course, I can advance you whatever amount you need," Huey responded promptly.
Bailee hesitated for a moment before responding, "I need fifty thousand dollars." Without a second thought, Huey said, "I'll transfer it right away. How would you like to receive it?" "Just send the money directly to Eileen. And please, don't mention anything about it. I'll explain it to her myself," Bailee said. Bailee was anxious that Huey might let slip that she had been struggling to find a job.
Huey complied and transferred fifty thousand dollars directly to Eileen.
As Eileen received the notification, she paused on the roadside, staring at her phone's transfer interface. She was about to send a message to Huey to ask about it when Bailee's call came.
"Eileen, did you get the money from Huey?" Bailee asked.
"Yes," Eileen replied, puzzled. "Why did he sendmoney?"

He gavean advance on my salary, and I asked him to send it to you to repay the sixty thousand I owe you. I'll cover the remaining ten thousand as soon as I get more!" Bailee said.
