Chapter 126
"You're not Mr. Vaire, but why are you sitting here?" Kayla's expression twisted, glaring at the man with a
machine-like, venomous stare.
The man was startled by Kayla's gaze and finally reacted. He looked down and realized he was sitting in Nion's
spot. "My seat is in the back, but since there was no one here, | just sat down. No one toldto leave," he said,
sounding quite self-assured.
Kayla was furious. "This is Mr. Vaire's seat. Who do you think you are? How dare you sit here?"
Just thinking about how she had just declared her heartfelt words to such a greasy face made her want to kill the
man. f she hadn't been holding the painting in her hands, she would have definitely made a move. Seeing Kayla
getting worked up and the situation spiraling out of control, Jquickly stood up and arranged for security to
intervene, sending the man back to his original seat.
"He's not Mr. Vaire. Then where is Mr. Vaire?" Kayla turned to Marissa. "Marissa, didn't you invite Mr. Vaire?"
Marissa was just as clueless. Jack had assured her that Nion would be there today, which was why she had made
such bold claims to Kayla.
At that moment, Jwalked up to the stage, stood at the microphone, and said to Kayla, "Ms.
Vanderbilt, please cup to the stage and take a photo with the artist, Nion Vaire."
This was the normal procedure for the auction. After a piece was bought, there was usually a photo opportunity
with both the buyer and the artist.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtKayla, however, was too impatient. Without waiting for the host's direction, she had already gone to find Nion. It
was because of this rush that she made a fool of herself and ended up in an embarrassing situation.
But hearing Jinvite her to take a photo with Nion, Kayla immediately cheered up. She looked gratefully at
Marissa. "Marissa, you didn't lie to me. Mr. Vaire really is here."
Once Marissa was sure that Nion had indeed arrived, she felt relieved. But she looked around and saw no one
getting up.
At that moment, Paisley, who had been sitting in the corner, slowly stood up in the dim light. The spotlight
caught her as she made her way toward Janet.
In that instant, it felt as though two large hands had grasped Marissa's throat and heart. The hands squeezed the
air out of her as her eyes widened in shock, unable to react for a long time.
Marissa thought, 'Paisley? Why is Paisley standing up? Why is she walking toward the stage? Why isn't anyone
stopping her?"
"Paisley..." Kayla stared in shock as Paisley walked up to the stage and stood next to Janet.
Jsmiled and reached out to Paisley, "Ms. Vanderbilt, please cup to the stage and take a photo with the
artist, Nion Vaire."
Kayla couldn't think anymore. Her mind went blank, buzzing. She couldn't see or hear anything around her. All
that echoed in Kayla's ears were Janet's words. "Ms. Vanderbilt, please cup to the stage and take a photo
with the artist, Nion Vaire.'
Kayla thought, 'Nion...Paisley...Paisley is Nion?'
As Paisley walked onto the stage with grace, the crowd was thrown into an uproar once again. "Nion is actually a
woman." They had always referred to Nion as "Mr. Vaire," but it turned out that Nion was a
woman.
And Paisley had been sitting with the poor girls from the beginning. At first, no one paid attention to her, but
later, when she competed with Kayla in the bidding, she began to catch everyone's attention. Standing on stage,
Paisley looked at the expressions of the guests below. Finally, with a half-smile, she turned her gaze to Kayla.
"Ms. Vanderbilt, it turns out I'm your life mentor and your soul's home." Kayla trembled all over. Her body and
mind seemed to be pulled in two different directions. Stunned, she walked to the front of the stage, looking up at
Paisley with a choked voice. "Are you really Mr. Vaire?" Paisley smiled faintly, "Wrong, Ms. Vanderbilt. You
shouldn't callMr. Vaire. | am a lady. That was my pen name, so I'd prefer you callMs. Sutton."
"Ms. Sutton..." Kayla repeated the name, unsure whether to laugh or cry.
Paisley, however, maintained her composed smile. "I didn't expect you to love my work so much and even spend
a fortune to buy it. To thank you for your admiration and your support of the charity, I'll write you a personalized
signature."
At these words, Kayla stiffened. She thought of how she had arrogantly shown off in front of Paisley earlier and
wished she could vanish immediately.
Paisley didn't care about Kayla's feelings. She took the pen from Janet, slightly bent over, and gently wrote a few
words on the coveted painting. [To Kayla, may you always smile.]
Lucy looked at Kayla's awkward expression and thought, 'Ms. Sutton knows the art of how to stab one's heart."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAfter signing, Paisley handed the pen back to Janet, then turned to look at Marissa, who was lurking in the
shadows, whose expression was dark. "Ms. Prescott, | heard | was invited by you?"
Marissa's face changed. She knew her boasting was about to be exposed.
Paisley sneered and turned to Lucy, "Do you know her?"
Lucy firmly denied it. "I did receive a call from a relative, saying someone wanted to meet you no matter the
cost. He was very humble. But | know your rules and refused."
Lucy rolled her eyes at Marissa, then turned to the crowd and said, "As for why Ms. Sutton is here at this auction,
it's because Ms. Flynn invited her two weeks ago.
"The reason Ms. Sutton is here is to help poor girls and for charity. So, Ms. Prescott, please don't spread rumors
and tarnish Ms. Sutton's reputation."
The others thought, 'That's right, there were rich people who wanted to pay a fortune for Nion's work, but she
always turned them down.
‘That's why Nion's art is said to be something money can't buy. No one has ever seen Nion in person. If
billionaires can't even get Nion to show up, how could Marissa?"
