On a freezing cold day, Catherine was still showing off her legs, drved in an expensive gown with a first despert

After all, she was an elder, so Hailey greeted her
Catherine adjusted her shawl and looked indifferent. When she preted by Hailey, the meered enidly. “You're

“Catherine?” Nicolas cdown from upstairs with a cold expression. ‘Are you acting like an elders What are

Catherine raised her eyebrows coldly. She snorted coldly and walked out the door in her high heels
Nicolas walked over and said apologetically to Hailey, “Ignore her. She's like this every tshe comes back.

Hailey nodded.
It was noon now. Evelyn was sleeping, and Hailey had not eaten since she was discharged from the hospital.
Nicolas personally cooked two bowls of spaghetti.
Casey leaned over Hailey and whispered, “My dad makes the best pasta.”
Hailey raised her eyebrows. “Really?”
Casey was very proud. “Of course.”
Hailey smiled. “By the way, Casey, do you have a photo of my mother at home? | want to see her.”
Casey thought for a moment and said, “But the photo album is in Evelyn's room. | heard from Dad that since
Valerie passed away, everything about Valerie has been put away. The photos are placed in Evelyn's room. They
won't let us see anything

“Do you have family photos?”
“Yes, | have it on my phone. | saw it once before, so | took a photo.” As Casey spoke, she took out her phone and
showed a photo.
The photo was a little yellowed and dated.
It was a family of five.
Her Grandpa, Grandma, and their three children.
Casey pointed at the little girl in the middle and said, “This is Valerie. | asked Dad. I think she was 17 or 18 years
old.”
The girl in the photo wore a white dress, and her demeanor was gentle and dignified. There was a youthful
innocence in her eyes and brows, her hair tied up in a playful bun that added a touch of liveliness to her look.
The two children around her were Nicolas and Catherine.

At that time, her grandparents were still very young, and the family was harmonious and happy.

Hailey looked at it for a while until Nicolas brought the food over and said, “That was a photo from a long time
ago.” She cback to her senses.
“If you want to see Valerie's photo, you can ask Evelyn. You're Valerie's daughter. She might let you see it.”
Nicolas sighed and said, “Of the three children in the family, Evelyn doted on Valerie the most back then. After
Valerie passed away, Evelyn was so sad that she fainted several times.”
Hailey nodded.
Nicolas asked again, “By the way, have you been to Valerie's grave since you chere?”
Hailey shook her head. “No, the Dalton family didn’t tellwhere the cemetery is.”
Nicolas sneered. “Of course, the Dalton family won't tell you because we were the ones who set up the cemetery.
The Dalton family didn’t deserve to lay her to rest, much less mourn her.”
Hailey pursed her lips and did not say anything.
“Alright, let's eat.” Nicolas calmed down.
“Thank you, Nicolas.” Hailey smiled and quickly finished the spaghetti.
After eating the spaghetti, Casey brought Hailey upstairs to play for a while. They played for a while before
Evelyn's voice cfrom downstairs.
“Where's my good granddaughter?” Evelyn walked out shakily with her walking stick.
Hailey stood on the second floor and shouted, “Evelyn, I'm here.” After shouting, she ran down the stairs.
“Hey, my dear granddaughter, slow down, slow down.” Evelyn smiled when she saw Hailey. She really liked
Hailey from the bottom of her heart.
Hailey helped Evelyn sit down on the sofa. “Evelyn, how have you been recently?”
“I've been in good health lately, but you're so young, yet you're in the hospital all the time. That won't do. You
need to build up your strength. I'll have the housekeeper make you ssoup tonight.”
“There's no need to go through so much trouble, Evelyn. I just have a little cold.”
“A little cold landed you in the hospital? Don’t try to fool me.”
Hailey did not know whether to laugh or cry.
After chatting with Evelyn for a while, Hailey asked, “By the way, Evelyn, | heard from Nicolas that Mom's photos
are all in your room. Can | take a look?”
At this point, Evelyn sighed deeply. “I've already put those things away. If you want to see them, I'll get Nicolas
to look for them in my house later.”
Hailey said, “Thank you, Evelyn.”
“Mom, you're really biased. | said | wanted to see it before, but you're not as generous as you are today,” Nicolas
teased as he cut a plate of fruits.
“How can you compare to my precious Hailey? You're a grown man, yet you still have the cheek to say such
things. A you ashamed?” Evelyn rolled her eyes at Nicolas.

Nicolas looked aggrieved.
Hailey smiled and changed the topic. “Where did Stephanie go
“My mom went shopping with her old friends,” Casey said.
“What old friends? Is that how you talk about me?” Stephanie’s voice cfrom the door.
Stephanie seemed to have put on sweight. She had a double chin on her face and her eyes narrowed into
slits when she smiled. She looked especially amiable.
Seeing Hailey, Stephanie first handed over a few shopping bags in her hands. “I knew Hailey would ctoday. |
especially went out to buy a few sets of clothes for Hailey. Quick, Casey, accompany Hailey upstairs to try?
“Stephanie, | already have plenty of clothes,” Hailey said quickly, stepping back.
“How can that be the same? As your aunt, this is a token of my appreciation,” Stephanie insisted, shoving the
shopping bag into Hailey’s arms without room for refusal. “Besides, what's wrong with a girl having more
clothes? It's not like we can’t afford it. Go try them on. | carefully selected these.”
Casey pulled Hailey upstairs.
She opened it and saw two dresses and a pair of shoes.
“My mother’s taste never changes,” Casey couldn't help but shake her head, complaining to Hailey. “She only
ever buys dresses-claims girls only look good in skirts. Just check my closet; it’s nothing but dresses. The few
pairs of pants | own? All bought by myself.”
Hailey laughed.
She casually picked up a floral dress and entered the changing room.
This floral dress was exceptionally girlish, with its knee-length cut, long sleeves, and delicate lace trim around
the neckline- a piece that demanded both a good figure and poise to pull off.
As soon as she cout, Casey was stunned. ‘She is too good-looking!”
Hailey was already fair-skinned and naturally beautiful, so while it was easy to imagine she'd look lovely, Casey
didn’t expect her to be so stunning.
“As expected of Valerie's daughter. Her temperament and bearing are not inferior to Valerie’s when she was
young.” Stephanie walked in and could not help but praise.
