Chapter 776 Hendrix had been scanning Noelle from head to toe. But when he heard her words, he paused slightly and looked at her again. "You were worried about me?" "Yeah. They didn't make things difficult for you, did they?" Noelle frowned. "I can testify for you. It was Sid who attacked first, and you were just protecting me." Hendrix studied her for a moment before suddenly laughing. "Of course they made it difficult for me. That bastard is still lying in the hospital, and he might even end up disabled. I've been bailed out for now, but I might still have to stand trial later. Who knows? I might even end up in prison." Noelle slowly turned pale in the face as his words slowly sank in. She stared at him in disbelief, her voice trembling. "A-Are you serious?" "Yeah." Noelle fell silent, her head bowing slowly. "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry." The choked sound of her voice sent an unexpected pang through Hendrix's chest.

But he quickly suppressed it and asked, "Noelle, what will you do?" "What do you mean?" "If I go to prison, what will you do?" "I'll wait for you," she answered without hesitation.

The sheer certainty in her voice caught Hendrix off guard.

"Why?" he asked.

Noelle looked at him, puzzled. Her eyes were still red-rimmed, glistening with unshed tears under the dim light, making them look even more captivating.

Staring at her, Hendrix suddenly felt like he might have gone too far with this lie.

Just as he was about to confess, Noelle said matter-of-factly, "Because I'm your wife, aren't I?" Hendrix stared at her for a long moment, then suddenly burst into laughter. It was as if he had just heard the best news of his life, his laughter bright and unrestrained.

Noelle, however, only frowned.

Just as she was about to ask what was so funny, Hendrix asked, "You're not going back tonight, are you?" "Huh?" The sudden shift in topic caught Noelle off guard. She blinked at him, momentarily stunned, unsure how to respond.

"It's late, and I haven't eaten yet. Chave dinner with me. Then, we'll find a hotel for the night." Hendrix made the decision decisively. After he said that, he pulled her forward.

Noelle instinctively tried to pull her hand free. But then, remembering something, she let it drop.

Noelle, still weighed down by the thought of him going to prison, could v.e barely bring herself to eat. Hendrix, however, kept piling food onto her plate. "Eat."

She glanced at him, then at the food, and forced herself to take a few bites. Afterward, he took her to a nearby hotel.

Noelle knew exactly what he was trying to do. To her, everything was moving too fast. Even if she didn't NO dislike him, in her current reality, they had only known each other for a few days. But to Hendrix, she was his wife. Just as he had told her before, he knew her body intimately. So to him, this probably wasn't a big deal at all.
