Chapter 197 "How did you know?" Tiffany blinked in surprise. "Were you there too?" "Yeah, just happened to be in the area. What brought you to the gambling ring?" Alex replied. "It's a long story, but I was there to bail someone out, not to gamble," Tiffany quickly explained. "You didn't get into any trouble, did you? Need a hand?" "No, everything's fine now," Tiffany assured him. "Mr. Zander, you weren't there to gamble, either, were you?" Alex was a solid guy, pulling in a good paycheck at Lewis Group. "Oh, that's good to hear," Tiffany said with relief. "Mr. Zander, why did you suddenly givea call? Is something wrong?" "Uh... nothing special. I just happened to see you there and wanted to check on you." Alex replied, sounding a bit awkward.
He didn't speak as smoothly as he usually was in the office. It was almost as if someone was coaching him. Tiffany thought she heard the sound of a pen scratching on paper and asked, "Is Mr. Lewis with you?" As soon as she spoke, the scratching stopped abruptly, then started again briefly.

"Thanks," Tiffany said softly.
The scratching noise resumed.
Alex asked, "Is there anything else you want to say or ask?" Tiffany was silent for a moment. She actually wanted to ask how Vincent was doing but felt it wasn't appropriate. "No, that's all." "Okay, I'll hang up then." "Yeah. Goodbye, Mr. Zander." After ending the call, Tiffany rested her head against the bus window. She gazed out at the passing street with a puzzled expression.
Alex glanced at Vincent seated across from him. "Mr. Lewis, I've got snews: Tiffany went to the gambling ring on First Street because her brother-in-law owel net? two million. She went there to bail him out." "Two million?" Vincent frowned. "Where did she get that much money?" "Well... Mr. Donald went with her, and he paid with a check," Alex clarified.
Vincent took a moment to think before saying, "Donald wouldn't hand over that much money without expecting something from Tiffany in return..." But what could Donald be expecting? Apart from herself, Tiffany had almost nothing.
Alex fell silent for a moment before suggesting, "Could it be for the baby?" Vincent pursed his lips. Though he didn't want to admit it, that seemed like the most reasonable explanation.
