The author behind the story

Quinlan Motley

GoodNovels.org Author of THE PROVIDENCE

Stories begin with the people we love, the lives we build, and the questions we cannot put down.

Quinlan Motley is a Sunday School Teacher, Food Bank Volunteer, GoodNovels.org Author, and Entrepreneur whose writing reflects a life shaped by faith, service, and responsibility. He is also a Retired U.S. Army Captain and Combat Veteran whose Military Service included Deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. A Husband and Father, he brings questions of care, provision, generosity, and trust to his work.

A boy in Jericho dreams of a life where his family will never go hungry. As he earns trust, builds prosperity and brings people together, his promise to protect them becomes a responsibility he cannot put down. THE PROVIDENCE imagines the life of the Young Rich Ruler through love, ambition and the search for enough. Inspired by the biblical Young Rich Ruler, THE PROVIDENCE imagines the life surrounding his encounter with Jesus. This is a novel, not a documented biography: a story of ambition, generosity, love and difficult choices in which prosperity leaves the deepest questions unanswered.

Quinlan Motley is a devoted husband to Alexis Motley and a proud father to their sons, Quinlan Motley and Alexander Motley.

The Alchemist helped inspire Quinlan Motley to write THE PROVIDENCE. His own novel explores the desire to protect the people we love and the difficulty of releasing control.

The Novel

THE PROVIDENCE

Before the Rich Ruler encounters Jesus, he is a boy who wants more for the people he loves.

He grows into a merchant, landholder, employer, husband, and provider. What he builds protects others. What he cannot release brings him to the story's hardest question.

THE PROVIDENCE is a literary biblical and historical Novel inspired by the Gospel account of the Rich Ruler. It imagines the life surrounding the encounter while preserving the distinction between story and Scripture.
